Jelmoli’s envelope is a space containing shell around an introverted department store. This space acts as a buffer zone between the outside and inside preventing daylight to enter the store. At night, in contrast, the inside shines outside. Shop windows and facade decorations glow brightly and make light a conspicuous design element of Jelmoli’s facade.
